Edwin Kukurs, CA, CFP

After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Toronto, Ed joined a national accounting firm to get some practical experience in the world of business. Having earned his CA designation in 1972 he decided that he really enjoyed public accounting, but wanted the more hands-on approach that a smaller firm could provide. Deeth & Co. proved to be the perfect place, and Ed has been a partner since 1977.

Having worked with many clients in a wide variety of businesses, Ed understands the problems that business owners face. He is firmly committed to working with the team at Deeth & Co. to solve those problems and to help clients build better businesses.

Ed earned his Certified Financial Planner designation in 2000 and uses his knowledge and experience in that area to assist clients with investment, tax, retirement planning and estate planning needs.

Stephen Deeth, CA

Steve Deeth received his CA designation in 1978. That same year, he joined the family business and launched his career as a Chartered Accountant.

For Steve, becoming a client of Deeth & Co. means building a relationship with the firm. With low client turnover, Steve feels that partnering with Deeth & Co. means fostering a relationship built on trust and open communication. The skills and knowledge found in-house in the areas of assurance services, tax planning, tax preparation, estate planning, and business development are only as effective as the way in which they are communicated. Steve believes that collaborating knowledge in these areas with practical applications that suit the client’s individual needs, is what makes Deeth & Co. an effective and trusted firm.

Richard Krummenacher, CA, CPA, CFP

Richard Krummenacher has had two careers at Deeth & Co. He started in 1981 as a student, and returned years later in 2003 as a CA. Richard earned the CA designation in 1984, the Certified Public Accountant designation in 1998, and the Certified Financial Planner designation in 2004.

Richard believes that Deeth & Co.’s focus on financial statement presentation and tax work is rounded out with a solid and competent understanding of business process, as well as training and support in areas such as bookkeeping and the use of different software applications. These strong in-house skills in the areas of tax, automated bookkeeping, and business processes ensure the clients’ needs are fully addressed. And, in the event that something cannot be addressed by the Deeth & Co. team, the answer is often found through the number of outside specialists that they can call upon to best satisfy the client.

Richard notes Deeth & Co.’s innovative approach to tax and business as its strongest asset to existing and new clients alike. He feels that the firm’s ability to revisit and revise existing business processes in order to remain current, results in better and more efficient results for their clients. Training in applications such as QuickBooks and staying up-to-date with new technologies are some of the ways that Deeth & Co. strives to provide clients with the most comprehensive and cutting-edge approaches to tax and business.

Teresa Gavin, CGA

A long time resident of Port Credit, Teresa Gavin began working for Deeth & Co. in 1978 after graduating from Sheridan College with a Business Diploma. She continued her education while working at Deeth & Co., and obtained her CGA designation in 1988.

Teresa believes that one of Deeth & Co.’s primary accomplishments is their ability to provide clients with personal service, while partnering their needs with the firm’s expertise. The diverse education and work experience within the firm provides clients with a wide range of solutions. Working at Deeth & Co. has allowed her the opportunity to be exposed to various aspects of accounting, from bookkeeping to financial and tax planning, to auditing. She takes pride in working with such a close-knit team at the firm.

In addition to Teresa’s career at Deeth & Co., she is a hockey enthusiast at both the amateur and professional levels. She has volunteered many hours over thirteen years for hockey teams within the MTHL & GTHL associations and was the biggest fan of her son who played for fourteen years.

Janice Meade, CA

Janice Meade has been part of the Deeth & Co. team since starting as a co-op student in January 1997. After graduating from Brock University with an Honours Bachelor of Accounting degree, Janice earned her CA designation in January 2001.

Throughout her work at Deeth & Co., Janice has had the opportunity to work on a multitude of different projects that have challenged and sharpened her skills. Within her current role as a Chartered Accountant, she is heavily involved in a diverse number of assurance engagements, allowing her to broaden her knowledge base as an accountant.

Janice takes pride in the fact that Deeth & Co.’s practice has been built on referrals from satisfied clients. Her many years at Deeth & Co. have enabled her to build and foster working relationships with her clients that she has direct contact with throughout the year.

Along with her work at Deeth & Co., Janice serves as the Treasurer for Peel Career Assessment Services Inc., a not-for-profit charitable organization located in Mississauga that provides quality rehabilitation and employment services within Peel, Halton, Dufferin, and Greater Toronto.

Daniel Epp, CA

In 2006, Daniel Epp joined the Deeth & Co. team as a co-op student from Brock University. He graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Accounting Degree and completed his studies in 2010 when he earned his designation of Chartered Accountant.

Daniel was originally attracted to Deeth & Co. because of the longevity of the firm. He feels that people choose Deeth & Co. knowing that they will be long-time clients, who are treated with a high degree of care and respect. Further, having multiple people in the firm involved with different clients has allowed him to learn from his colleagues in a variety of ways. The diversity of the firm, as well as his clients, provides him with a mix of old and new perspectives to solutions and issues.

Sylvia Ly

Sylvia Ly began working at Deeth & Co. as a co-op student in January 2002 and since then has gone on to earn her Bachelor of Accounting from Brock University. She originally joined Deeth & Co. because of the size of the firm and the type of work she would get exposure to. The work environment, she feels, has allowed her to get to know all of her coworkers and clients on a professional and personal basis. Due to the fact that Deeth & Co. is a mid-size firm, Sylvia has had the opportunity to get hands on learning experience in a multitude of areas.

Sylvia holds Deeth & Co.’s client-focused approach to accounting in the highest regard. She takes pride in the fact that everyone at Deeth & Co. strives to provide the most accurate, up-to-date information to their clients. If the topic or issue goes beyond their scope of knowledge, each team member will do the research necessary to help the client.

Chung Hee Chang

Chung Hee Chang has been with Deeth & Co. since 1973, working as a senior accountant. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree, which she earned in Korea.

Since 1973, Chung Hee has worked to provide clients with up-to-date, quality service. She feels that many clients choose Deeth & Co. because of the direct contact they have with her and her colleagues. Working in this mid-size firm has allowed Chung Hee to work in many capacities, including: preparing financial statements, corporate tax returns, personal tax returns, GST and PST returns, bookkeeping, and consulting. She enjoys collaborating with the new generation in the Deeth & Co. team, allowing her to combine her depth of knowledge with their current perspectives.

Carole Hayman

Carole Hayman has worked at Deeth & Co. for 19 years in differing capacities. She is a Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor, and has an Accounting Certificate from Sheridan College. Her career at Deeth & Co. started while working for a client, who referred her to the firm to gain knowledge in accounting.

Working at a CA firm has allowed her many professional experiences that would not have otherwise been possible. She has had the opportunity to work in a number of different areas, while interacting on a close basis with clients. Carole’s approach to helping clients is based on building relationships that allow both parties to communicate in an open and honest way in order to achieve the best result for the client and their business.

Janet Morgan

Janet Morgan began her career at Deeth & Co. in 2009 after several years of self employment within the accounting industry. She also held the appointed position of Returning Officer with Elections Canada.

Janet chose Deeth & Co. because of its local appeal. After working with many small businesses and not-for-profit organizations throughout Peel, she welcomed the opportunity to work in the heart of community she loves, Port Credit. The medium size of the firm was attractive to her because of the opportunities she would gain to both expand her current knowledge and to interact closely with clients.

Aside from her work, Janet has been involved in her community for many years. She volunteered and served in various capacities on several Executive Boards including; Elementary and Secondary School Councils, The Air Cadet League of Canada (845 Avro Air Squadron), Scouts Canada, The Peel Literacy Guild, and she volunteered many hours to Mississauga’s youth sports teams in baseball and basketball.
