Charlie joined Deeth & Co. LLP in October 2013 after nine successful years at another public accounting firm. During the time at his previous firm, he obtained a wealth of practical experience in all aspects of public accounting. Charlie focuses on providing tax, accounting and advisory services to privately held corporations operating in various industries. These industries include but are not limited to, professional practices (medical, legal and optometry), financial services, insurance, manufacturing, and real estate. Charlie is focused on providing Deeth & Co. LLP clients with practical and proactive advice, and assisting them with all of their compliance and advisory needs.
Charlie graduated from Brock University in 2008, with a Bachelor of Accounting (Honours, Co-op option) degree. After graduating from Brock, he successfully passed all of the required CPA, CA professional exams and received his CPA, CA designation in 2009. Charlie has completed all three levels of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada’s (CPA Canada) In-Depth tax course.
In his spare time, Charlie enjoys spending time at the cottage with his wife and two children. Charlie is also an active golf and curling member at Mississaugua Golf and Country Club.
Richard joined Deeth & Co. LLP in January 2014 with over 35 years of public accounting experience. He graduated from the University of Waterloo where he earned an Honours Bachelor of Math (Co-op Chartered Accountant) degree. While studying Math he took 16 computer science courses. This combination of accounting and computer science provided him with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Richard co-founded a small public accounting firm with John Sidler and played a critical role growing the firm from 4 to over 40 people. Richard’s vision in the mid 90’s formed the foundation of the IT consulting arm of the firm providing services to private and public enterprises across the country.
Richard needed a new challenge. He saw the opportunity at Deeth & Co. LLP to move away from a role that was focused on administration, and return to a more hands-on role delivering client service, his first passion.
Richard views the clients as central to the firm and is committed to building a strong, unified team to service them.
In his spare time, Richard enjoys home renovation projects and is an active golfer and curler at the Mississauga Golf and Country Club.
Steve joined Deeth & Co. LLP in 1978 to practice public accounting with his father and Ed. It has been a most rewarding and fun experience. Over this 35 year period, he has built many long lasting relationships with clients and colleagues.
Steve combines his strong analytical skills and extensive knowledge base with an easy going manner in his work with his clients. Making complex issues understandable is one of Steve’s key strengths.
His primary areas of interest include assurance, tax, and business advisory services to the owner-managed business. He also has extensive knowledge in the areas of personal tax, corporate tax and estate planning.
After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Toronto, Ed joined a national accounting firm to get some practical experience in the world of business. Having earned his CA designation in 1972 he decided that he really enjoyed public accounting, but wanted the more hands-on approach that a smaller firm could provide. Deeth & Co. LLP proved to be the perfect place, and Ed has been a partner since 1977.
Having worked with many clients in a wide variety of businesses, Ed understands the problems that business owners face. He is firmly committed to working with the team at Deeth & Co. LLP to solve those problems and to help clients build better businesses.
Stephanie joined Deeth & Co. LLP in May 2017 with eleven years of professional experience focused mainly on Canadian income tax research and compliance for domestic individuals and privately held corporations.
She graduated from Brock University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Accounting (Honours, Co-op option) degree. After graduating from Brock, she successfully passed all of the required CA professional exams and received her CPA, CA designation in 2010. Stephanie has completed all three levels of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada’s (CPA Canada) In-Depth tax course and continues to remain involved with the program. She facilitates at the orientation, group study and in-residence portions of the program.
In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children.
After receiving a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Manitoba, Merrilee joined a mid-size regional firm and earned her CA designation in 2003. During this time, she gained excellent experience working with companies and individuals operating in industries including professional corporations (medical and legal), manufacturing, film, and not-for-profits.
She left Winnipeg and moved to Toronto in 2006 as a newlywed and decided to venture out of public accounting. Merrilee spent 10 years working downtown Toronto at a Self-Regulatory Organization auditing the head offices of companies in the financial services industry across Canada. Through assisting the Enforcement and IT departments on special projects, she applied her financial expertise in new ways and gained extensive knowledge of the regulatory environment in the financial services industry.
In 2016, Merrilee decided that she really enjoyed public accounting, and returned to public practice at Deeth & Co. LLP.
In her spare time, Merrilee enjoys cycling, baking, and spending time outdoors with her husband and two young children. She also appreciates art and has travelled to Europe and South Africa.
CPA, CA, CFP
Rajit joined Deeth & Co. LLP in January 2014 and gained his professional designation (CPA, CA) later the same year. While at Brock University he was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honours Society (BGS) which recognizes students in the top 10% of their undergraduate class. Through his academic pursuits and practical experience he has gained a rich understanding of assurance and tax services and enthusiastically applies his knowledge to corporate and personal clients.
Rajit is also a Certified Financial Planner.
Outside of his professional life, Rajit enjoys playing basketball and staying fit. His enjoyment of movies and music rounds out this dynamic and personable young professional.
Rajit successfully wrote his final exams in 2014, earning the CPA, CA designation.
After graduating from The University of Western Ontario with distinction in 2008, Barry’s career in public accounting began at another mid-sized CA firm. During this time, he gained excellent experience working with companies and individuals operating in industries including manufacturing, distribution, service, not-for-profits, agriculture and technology.
Barry joined Deeth & Co. LLP in August 2013, after earning his CA designation in 2012, to focus on providing assurance, tax and accounting services to smaller companies and not-for-profit organizations. Barry is now the firm’s quality assurance leader for audit and review engagements and conducts research for the firm when complex accounting issues arise. He also mentors new co-op students as well as prospective CAs who are writing their professional examinations.
Carol graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and for 25 years gained extensive experience as an independent contractor providing accounting services to a diverse range of clients, a number of whom have been with her throughout that time.
Before joining Deeth & Co. LLP in 2014 as a Staff Accountant, Carol spent four years with a mid-size accounting firm rounding out her knowledge. In addition to servicing clients at Deeth & Co. LLP, she maintains the firms accounting records and mentors the co-op students.
Carol spends vacations walking in Europe and enjoys golf, curling and cooking.
Chung Hee Chang
Chung Hee Chang has been with Deeth & Co. LLP since 1973, working as a senior accountant. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree, which she earned in Korea.
Since 1973, Chung Hee has worked to provide clients with up-to-date, quality service. She feels that many clients choose Deeth & Co. LLP because of the direct contact they have with her and her colleagues. Working in this mid-size firm has allowed Chung Hee to work in many capacities, including: preparing financial statements, corporate tax returns, personal tax returns, GST and PST returns, bookkeeping, and consulting. She enjoys collaborating with the new generation at Deeth & Co. LLP allowing her to combine her depth of knowledge with current perspectives.
Emily joined Deeth & Co. LLP in 2017 and discovered her passion for accounting. She is eager to learn all the different aspects of the profession and enjoys working with corporate and personal clients. She is working towards obtaining her CPA, CA designation.
Outside of work, Emily enjoys hiking, baking, the Raptors and training her dogs. She also volunteers her time at fundraising events run by a charitable foundation.
Paul began his career with Deeth & Co. LLP in January 2014 as a Brock University Co-op student. He graduated with first class standing from Brock University with a Bachelor of Accounting (Honours) Co-op option in 2016 and a Master of Accountancy in 2017. He successfully wrote the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Common Final Examination in 2017.
Paul’s comprehensive education and early practical experience have given him a well-rounded knowledge base. His attention to detail and strong analytical skills allow him to understand critical information and respond to clients needs in a rapidly changing business environment.
Paul is passionate about sport both as a spectator and participant and enjoys spending time with friends and family.
Carole Hayman has worked at Deeth & Co. LLP since 1985 in differing capacities. She is a Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor, and has an Accounting Certificate from Sheridan College. Her career at Deeth & Co. LLP started while working for a client, who referred her to the firm to gain knowledge in accounting.
Working at a CA firm has allowed her many professional experiences that would not have otherwise been possible. She has had the opportunity to work in a number of different areas, while interacting on a close basis with clients. Carole’s approach to helping clients is based on building relationships that allow both parties to communicate in an open and honest way in order to achieve the best result for the client and their business.
Cara joined Deeth & Co. LLP in 2016 shortly after passing the Chartered Professional Accountants’ Common Final Examination having graduated from The University of Western Ontario in 2014 with a Bachelor of Business Management and Organizational Studies, Specialization in Accounting. She will be obtaining her CPA, CA designation in 2018.
During her time at Deeth & Co. LLP, Cara has gained extensive and valuable experience in financial reporting and audit and assurance work within various industries. She has developed a strong understanding of both personal and corporate tax services, an area which she thoroughly enjoys.
Outside of her professional life, Cara is very passionate about children and helping provide a better future for them. She has volunteered on many occasions, in Canada and overseas to help achieve this. Cara also note-takes for college students with hearing loss, providing them accessibility in the classroom. Apart from volunteering, Cara enjoys playing the piano.
Dorothy started her working life studying accountancy in England but changed directions to become an Executive Secretary (PSDip.) However, both these areas have been a constant theme throughout her working life and Dorothy brings the wide variety of knowledge and skills she has gained to the administrative function of Deeth & Co. LLP.
Alison is an Honours graduate of the Crafts and Design (Textiles) Advanced Diploma program at Sheridan College and is currently using her computer skills and meticulous attention to detail to support the administrative function of Deeth & Co. LLP.
She is an artist, creating in both textiles and acrylic painting, and loves watching soccer, cooking, gardening and birdwatching.
CPA, CA, CFP, CPA (Illinois)
Richard Krummenacher has had two careers at Deeth & Co. LLP. He started in 1981 as a student, and returned years later in 2003 as a CA. Richard earned the CA designation in 1984, the Certified Public Accountant (Illinois) designation in 1998, and the Certified Financial Planner designation in 2004.
Richard believes that Deeth & Co. LLP’s focus on financial statement presentation and tax work is rounded out with a solid and competent understanding of business process, as well as training and support in areas such as bookkeeping and the use of different software applications. These strong in-house skills in the areas of tax, automated bookkeeping, and business processes ensure the clients’ needs are fully addressed. And, in the event that something cannot be addressed by the Deeth & Co. LLP team, the answer is often found through the number of outside specialists that they can call upon to best satisfy the client.
Richard notes Deeth & Co. LLP’s innovative approach to tax and business as its strongest asset to existing and new clients alike. He feels that the firm’s ability to revisit and revise existing business processes in order to remain current, results in better and more efficient results for their clients. Training in applications such as QuickBooks and staying up-to-date with new technologies are some of the ways that Deeth & Co. LLP strives to provide clients with the most comprehensive and cutting-edge approaches to tax and business.
Bill joined Deeth & Co LLP in January 2017 after spending just over two years operating his own firm. As he provided tax and accounting support to small and mid-sized business customers from a variety of industries, Bill gained substantial experience and insight.
Before establishing his own practice, Bill was a tax specialist with a large, regional accounting firm. In that capacity, he developed a strong foundation in tax planning and minimization, corporate re-organizations, business purchases and sales. He also provided consulting for start-up businesses.
Bill graduated from the University of Windsor with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2003, passed his CA professional exams in 2010, and received his CPA, CA designation in 2013. Since then, Bill has completed all three levels of CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Course.
At Deeth & Co LLP, Bill focuses on providing accounting, assurance (auditing and review), plus tax services to small and medium-sized businesses, not-for-profits, and charities.
Bill was drawn to the strong people and reputation at Deeth & Co LLP. The well-rounded team at the firm allows Bill to provide complete turnkey solutions to clients from initial business planning and start-up through to succession planning and sale.
Michael joined Deeth & Co. LLP in 2017 as a staff accountant with a wide range of experience preparing corporate year-ends and tax filings for small and mid-sized businesses. Michael has provided consultations regarding bookkeeping and has extensive experience preparing personal tax returns.
Michael is a graduate of Sheridan College’s Business Administration Program with a focus on Accounting. He’s very committed to his career choice and is continuing his studies part-time with the goal of entering the CPA program and earning his professional designation.
Outside the office, Michael enjoys the outdoors with his wife and children, exploring the local greenspaces on foot and by bicycle.
Julie joined Deeth & Co. LLP in 2018 and discovered her passion for working with people. Drawing from experience in merchandising sales and computer skills, she helps support the daily function of the firm, (administrative, bookkeeping, preparing documents, tax returns, front desk reception). An Honours Graduate of the Visual Merchandising Arts & Marketing Program at Sheridan College, she is currently working towards obtaining her Integrated Accounting Certificate.
Outside of work, Julie loves to spend time outdoors with her husband and two children exploring southern Ontario. She also volunteers her time with her son’s Beaver Scouts Troop, which recently included coordinating a call to Canadian astronaut David Saint-Jacques aboard the International Space Station.
